Hiking to Elfin Lakes

Initially, all was unimpressive and hard; a long double track dirt road that stretched for 5km before opening to a warming hut, a slick dirt path continued for about half a kilometre before you could surface for the first glimpse of the mountains you came to enjoy.

Nonetheless, one seemed to slowly orbit around this mountain as you followed along an undulating double track that stretched parallel to its base a further 6km. Loose shale and the odd rock tripped and slipped up your steps, and a cold breeze confused us against the hot unabashed rays of the Autumn sun.

Eventually the journey rewarded you with a ridge of mountain tops that stretched for miles, each peak singing to the heavens of the majesty of its Creator.
